When you visit our website, data about your use will be collected and stored for technical reasons.

Zoo Karlsruhe respects and protects your privacy when using its services by always striving for an anonymous use of all offers. Zoo Karlsruhe is a public body within the meaning of the EU Data Privacy Regulation. This Data Privacy Statement explains what data is collected and stored, how it is used, and how you can exercise your rights under the EU Data Privacy Regulation.

If you have made personal data available to us, we will only collect, store and use it to the extent necessary that will allow us to respond to your enquiries, to substantiate, process and implement contracts concluded with you or to provide the services and for technical administration.

1. Use of the information provided

With each use of an information offer in the Internet data is collected from the is requested computer, which serves the technical completion of the enquiry, but which also permit conclusions on the enquiring computer. We store this data solely for the technically necessary duration of the existence of the connection. Since our information offer is free of charge, no other user or connection data is stored.

2. Online Ticketing

Zoo Karlsruhe offers you the possibility to order tickets online, which will be sent to you by e-mail immediately after payment by credit card or Giropay. The credit card details are transmitted directly and exclusively to your credit card company, which charges your credit card account. Neither we, nor our service provider have access to your data in this process. This makes it possible to order and pay for tickets anonymously. For processing the order process, only an e-mail address is required to which the admission ticket will be sent electronically. This is done via the service zoo-karlsruhe.ticketfritz.de of our service provider Beckerbillett GmbH, Fangdieckstraße 61, 22547 Hamburg. To prevent and prosecute fraudulent actions against you with stolen credit card data, we will store this e-mail address for another three months after your credit card account has been debited and the ticket has been used to enter our premises. We will merge the card identification and the e-mail address only for this purpose and use this data exclusively in the event of suspected fraud for criminal prosecution.

3. Webshop

Zoo Karlsruhe offers you the opportunity to purchase gift cards online. For this we need your name, first name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. After ordering you will receive an electronic payment request with a gift card number. The gift card will be sent within 10 days after receipt of the invoice amount plus 2.00 euros service fee.

4. Annual tickets

When ordering annual tickets, we require your name, first name, address, telephone number (in case of queries), your date of birth, an electronic photograph and your e-mail address.

After successful completion of the payment process, you will be forwarded to the personalisation page for your annual ticket. There, among others, you upload your electronic photo. Having completed the personalisation process, your annual ticket will be created by Karlsruhe Zoo and sent to you by post. The annual ticket will be sent to you within 10 days of receipt of the invoice amount plus a service fee of 2.00 euros.

5. Contact form

With our contact form we collect your name, your e-mail address and, if applicable, your telephone number. You provide your details on a voluntary basis. The transmission of the contact form is encrypted.  

6. Account – My Account

In addition to ordering as a guest, you can also create a customer account with us. It stores your order history, your address data and information about your season tickets. You can change your password here at any time. To delete your account please send an e-mail to besucherservice@zoo.karlsruhe.de.

7. Facebook

Zoo Karlsruhe uses the social login ("Facebook Plugins") of Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"), who connects this site to Facebook's social network.

By activating the Facebook plugins, your browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The content of the Facebook plug-in is transferred directly to your browser from Facebook. At the same time, certain data is transferred to Facebook from your browser. This happens regardless of whether you click on the Facebook plug-in or not. We have no influence on the amount of data that Facebook collects in this way. According to our current state of knowledge, the following data is involved:

  • Visited page on our website that contains the Facebook plug-in
  • The general data transmitted by your browser (IP address, browser type and version, operating system, time),
  • With registered and logged in Facebook users, the respective Facebook identification number.

The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook as well as your rights in this regard and setting options for the protection of your privacy can be found in Facebook's privacy policy: www.facebook.com/policy.php.

If you are a Facebook member and do not want Facebook to collect data on you via our website and link it to your Facebook member data, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website and possibly delete existing Facebook cookies. The Facebook plugins can also be blocked for your own browser by using add-ons You can find more information about this on the add-on pages of your browser.

8. Information, blocking, correction, deletion

Upon request, we will provide you with information about the personal data stored about you.

You can block, correct or delete your data collected by us. Stored personal data will be deleted if a) you revoke your consent to their storage, b) their knowledge is no longer required for the purpose for which they were stored, or c) their storage is inadmissible for other legal reasons.
